Now that they're out of jail, what's next?
Richland County Court Services’ main goal is to safely reintegrate ex-offenders back into the community. But we also know that offenders require intense supervision once they are released. Key elements of adult probation include; Pretrial Release, Community Work Service, a Community Alternative Center and Electronic Monitoring.

All these elements help move the offender into the circle of law-abiding citizens. We must first break the cycle of crime. By holding offenders accountable to the victims we show them that crimes leave permanent scars.

Bottom line: adult probation is focused on protecting the community as our #1 goal. Years of experience have shown us that just locking up criminals doesn't reduce crime. Instead, research shows that community justice systems are more successful in preventing repeat offenses and at a lower cost to the taxpayer. Ex-offenders need to become productive members of society, and Richland County Court Services actively works to ensure that they do.
